The world · who is Lex?

Meet Lex and the Team.

Lex The Saurus is Ambassador to planet Earth for the village of Locus Crocus, and he has set himself a resolution for the millennium: to help kids from 0 to 100 read better, and faster, through fun and play.

There is heaps of research on this. But distilling the latest, most relevant findings is a full‑time job, it is literally ours, and as a parent, or anyone with a little one, your hands are already full. Quite literally, perhaps. So we made it super‑dooper simple to read through everything we do.

Fun books, toys and games, with the science tucked quietly underneath, that help children pick up and use words faster, with far less effort.

So we made the hard part super, super simple.

Welcome, wanderers and wonderers!

About us

A small team, a big question.

We are a team of linguists, neuroscientists, clinical researchers, educators and creatives, held together by one question: how can we help children learn through play using patterns so no one falls behind in schools.

Here is the irony that started it. We build large language models (LLMs) around pattern recognition to make machines handle language well. Meanwhile, children spend the years when their brains are most receptive to pattern recognition learning words one by one, by rote, a slow, high-load way to learn that builds nothing they can carry to the next word.7,8 Imagine if we changed that. Mind blowing. Yes, we love a good dad joke too.

We build on peer reviewed research in morphology, linguistics and learning science3,9,10, and we test with families, children and nurseries, so that what arrives in your child's hands is pure fun and joy first, and quietly teaches at the same time. We call it funducation.

Yes, we go by fruit and veg. It started as a joke and we could not peel it off…
